Hi, after a few years out of high school I have been planning on going to college for computer science. But I changed my mind suddenly when I heard my prospective school has a glass blowing program and I knew that’s exactly what I want to do. But I have very little experience in 3D art which is required for the glass blowing program. After talking with an advisor, I was told I can major in Studio Arts Exploration and after a semester or two I can then do glass blowing. I have always had art as a hobby in almost every affordable medium, but I have never taken an art class except for back in elementary and middle school. I don’t think I’ve ever even watched a tutorial. I don’t know if my art is technically good at all, I just know that I love it but regardless drawing/painting isn’t my end goal. I also know most studio art majors I have known to have taken some kind of AP art class and I’m not sure if this will hurt me or not.

I’ve added a bunch of random samples of my work. I have not laid out any kind of form of a portfolio yet.

So I have a few questions:

What should I really focus on in my portfolio?

Is technically good art better than creativity?

Do I even have a chance if I’ve never taken an art class or have some kind of experience?

Am I able to just work on new things and then apply if none of my work is good enough? Since everything has to be dated, would it be odd to them if I did this and everything is very recent?

Sorry if these are dumb questions but this is all new to me. Any other advice/critique is appreciated. Thank you :)
