How to not die in solos?

I typically find another player within 30s of entering the match.
Next ones never far behind.

If I survive until exfils pop up into the map, seems everyone is headed to those first ones, and there's only a couple.

Are other folks out there managing?
I've resigned myself to doing my active quest and dying.
