Sponges suck especially compared to dishrags

Sponges suck

I don't understand why sponges are the prefered way to clean dishes when dish rags exist. They are cheap, they last for forever (my parents have some that are 10+ years old) you don't have to keep replacing them, instead you just throw it in the washing machine, and they clean just as good
