Is my generation weak?

Discussion

I just had my first baby 13 days ago. The labor and delivery went so smoothly, but I have 3 tears on my perenium and vagina, with 9 stitches. Four days after birth, I had two more stitches added (which included debridement). Two days after that, the new stitches popped out. Two days after that, I went to the ER and had an OB from L&D take a look. She did another debridement and said the tissue won’t hold stitches, so it has to heal without stitches. This has all been incredibly painful, especially with people going in and messing with the wound every few days. I cannot stand up or walk except to use the bathroom. It’s been really tough. My husband has been absolutely amazing at taking care of me.

Contrast that with my mother and MIL’s experience — my mother had a forceps delivery and my MIL had two c-sections. I have read/heard that the recovery from both forceps and c-section is way harder than a regular vaginal birth like I had. But both my mother and MIL say they were up and moving around, cooking dinner, etc. date they gave birth.

Is my generation just weak? I don’t understand how the Boomers just got on with life after having severe pelvic floor trauma (forceps delivery) and major abdominal surgery (c-section). Here I am with the easiest of the those three outcomes to recover from, yet I can’t get out of bed. I can barely sit up to breastfeed.
