ladies, what's the best way to treat severe period cramps?

i have PCOS don't want to take birth control, and regular OTC painkillers don't work for me like panadol, ibuprofen or even aleve. it's extremely frustrating as i have to suffer every month. went to gynae but he just said everything looks fine in my tests so he doesn't wanna prescribe medication.
