Welcome to the Soul Kitchen. This is a clip of a Custom Song I wrote, recorded and produced in Logic Pro. All of it - All the instruments and sang every note.
Connie and I talked about writing this song for her granny. I had heard so many stories about her — she lived to be 102 years old and was the kind of woman who never let life steal her joy.
When Connie sent me that line, “my ride or die was 102,” it immediately became the heart of the song.
It reminded me of my own Meemaw and the love that lives in those relationships.
So I wrote this as a deep 60s soul ballad with cello, violin, and flute — the kind of sound that feels like memory, love, and a tenderness that deserves to be celebrated.
Sometimes melody and harmony can hold things words alone can’t.

Did you have a Meemaw? What did you call your grandmother?

If someone in your life deserves a song like this, feel free to reach out.

One of the beautiful surprises of writing custom songs is how much I’ve come to love telling other people’s stories through music.
Every song like this helps keep the creative fire burning — not just for these commissions, but for the soul music I’m continuing to write and record for my upcoming EP.
