Attaching items on hooked shelves (Quonset)

Hi guys,

Currently doing another phase where I revamp my main safehouse, which is the quonset for my current run. I got it pretty tidy thus far but I am having a hard time using the shelves with hooks. I want to hang MREs (or the generic beef jerky/ketchup bags), but I can't seem to get it to work with either the calendar or broom trick. Every time I move those items to the shelf, it doesn't seem to properly stick to it since the game doesn't seem to count it as a wall (like how you can't attach hockey sticks to the wall).

Is there any way to fix this, or perhaps I am doing the trick wrong, or does it no longer work on the hooked shelves now? I've seen several posts in the past where people made it work but those were months ago so I can't tell if it's possible anymore.
