Have I waited too long to purchase pet insurance for my cat?
I have a 2 year old cat. I’ve had her as a kitten and haven’t been in a stable living situation until this year. I’m finally ready to buy pet insurance but is it too late? And does anyone have similar experiences?
My cat has gone to the vet several times. When she was a kitten, I took her there because I’d often find a bit of blood in her poop and diarrea periodically. Many tests were taken with no findings. She was eventually treated with a broad spectrum dewormer. Recently she was taken to the vet because of mild gingivitis. Apparently she’s genetically vulnerable to dental issues and might need regular cleanings.
That’s okay. I don’t expect pet insurance to cover her dental treatment as I’ve heard many of them don’t even offer it.
What I’m worried about is what I’ve heard about the lengths these companies will go to not accept a claim. And since her GI issues are on record from when she was a kitten and we had barely got her, I wonder if I’ve screwed myself over. Does anyone have any experience similar to this? Did you purchase pet insurance anyway? How has that gone for you?
