Awaji Island day trip

Anyone did a day trip to Awaji island? I plan to take a train from Osaka-Namba area to Akashi station, then take a ferry from Akashi port to Iwaya port. Once on Awaji, will probably rent bikes to explore the "lands".

Is bicycling worth it? Or should I rent a car for a day? Ofc this would be more expensive and faster, but then ill need an international drivers license. Just thinking what would be more "fun". Any tips on Awaji would be great.
