Still deconstructing from Christianity
Deconstructing from Christianity has been difficult and painful for me. One of the main reasons it's been painful is losing friends and feeling alone. It feels good to be free from religion, but I've never felt more lonely. I no longer have a community or people to fellowship with. I live in the Bible Belt in a very small town, making it hard to meet new people or make friends. Most people seem uninterested in me. When I share my struggles with depression and mental health, they're dismissive, offering prayers or blaming the devil. I feel more like myself alone, yet I hate feeling so lonely. I want to move out of my town, but saving money takes forever on my minimum-wage job. I'm uncertain about my life direction, feeling lost at almost 24. I'm glad I'm free from Christianity, but finding meaning in anything else is hard. Getting on Facebook is intolerable due to the abundance of Bible and God posts; it's frustrating. I don't know what I'm doing with my life, and I feel like I've wasted my twenties.
