So i remember when Shady made a review on the episode and what he said in the end really had my head spinning.

The episode is basically a anti-racism episode where a racist version of Captain Atom targets starfire for his racism against tamaraneans he calls her a racial slur “Troq” the whole episode, but because his is a space hero she doesn’t say anything to her friends not only because of the embarrassment but also doesn’t want to “rock the boat” and goes along with him to help fight another alien he’s trying to arrest.

He hangs out with the other titans while still calling StarFire “Troq” to the point where even cyborg starts calling her “Troq” she then gets upset at but she then explains what is really means so the 2 have a heart to heart with him telling her his existence with discrimination with the fact he’s half robot, after the convo she gets the courage to tell her friends what “Troq” means, then they team up beat the bad guy, (Fake)Captain atom gets hurt while escaping the ship, starfire try to saves him he calls her a racial slur again, but she still sees them in anyway because she still wants to do the right thing.

In the end of the episode (Fake)Captain Atom thanks the titans for there assistance, he then pulls out the “your one of the good one” on her for saving him, so her and the titans, (rightfully so) reprimand him for his obviously backhanded compliment and calls him out for his prejudice because you like a certain group of people in a race/sexuality doesn’t make you any less racist or sexist so he then get defensive and now thinks tamaraneans and humans as the same evil race to him.

At the end of the review shady says that it was a missed opportunity to have the Titans tell him he’s wrong, but politely, acknowledge that he was at least trying to be better yeah I can’t agree with shay here him. Let’s put it in this perspective (vayor) is a grown adult calling a teenage girl a racial slur for something her people apparently did to him or what he’s heard they did, he doesn’t know starfire personally he just knows what she is, and to expect the Titans, her friends and only family to even be somewhat be respectful to him after finding out the truth is nonsensical.

I like the fact that this episode told us that you shouldn’t tolerate bigotry, even from a well respected hero because even they can be horrible people too

So i heavily disagree with the end of shady’s review on the episode “troq” from teen titans
