Thoughts on the new Shyvana rework? I really want to like it, but I find myself not incredibly impressed (mechanically)
Don't get me wrong, I LOVE the visual rework. I think she looks incredible! However, mechanically, they did what I was really worried they'd do, which was make her feel more clunky and linear.
They pigeon holed her AD and AP ratios to INCREDIBLY favor AD on her Q as opposed to having reasonable ratios to allow for some variation in either. Rn it's like along the lines of 110% AD and 15% AP? Even the old one had 50% AP and a valid AP build was still great.
The Q otherwise is cool. I do kind of think that her old one was better simply for the fact that it literally hit twice for On-Hit effects to proc twice, but functionally it still feels nice. Different, but nice and I'm not mad about it's functional use. A little strange they tied her Max HP% Magic damage to it, but I suppose it makes the E less important? More on that later.
Her W... I gotta be honest, I don't love. It actually feels harder to stick to champions than before. Upon typing this, maybe it's salvageable with Navori's if the cooldown also reduces while the skill is active, but I'm undetermined at this moment in time.
Her E is diametrically opposed to her Q in terms of her Q and receives ZERO AD scaling. ZERO?? I think utility wise they balanced it out with it being a slow, but it really hits like a wet noodle if you do the intended AD/Bruiser build this character seems to want to be.
I don't have much to say on her R. It's fine. Visually stunning, functionally similar, and ZERO AD SCALING ONCE AGAIN. Okay, maybe I do have an issue with this one too. They really just made you choose weather or not you want one part of her kit or the other.
Now let's address the elephant in the room, her passive. It's LEAGUES better than her old one. Like it's not even close. Shyvana may as well almost have not had a passive before with how much it sucked. Is that a bit of an exaggeration? Well, perhaps a little, but it certainly pales in comparison to the new passive. No comments, it's perfect.
I do see how the goal of this rework does make her a functionally entirely different character, although I gotta be honest, she still just doesn't seem like an AD champion to me. I could honestly disregard most comments and say that she'd feel better if they just slapped slightly different ratios on her skills and called it a day. Rn, she's an AD Q bot who's tanky, or she's a character that actually does some damage at the cost of her activated Q being relatively useless aside from the passive it brings. Maybe I just need to play her AP build more and mess around with it, but I wanna hear the community's thoughts as well on this. Thumbs up? Thumbs down? Neutral? Let's talk about it a bit.
