Hrt, breast cancer , and genetic screening/testing?
I'm a pre-transiton transwoman in my later 20's wanting to start HRT as soon as me and my gf can get to a blue state (hopefully sometime next year or a little earlier). My mom (whom I don't live w/ and knows I'm likely to do it anyways), on the other hand, doesn't want me to do it due to fears of me developing breast cancer due to a possible gene mutation, because her uncle died of breast cancer, and my dads mom had breast cancer but dealt with it through home remedies. I want to be fully informed before I do anything and due to having no insurance have just been researching everything I can find on the BRCA 1 and 2 genetic mutations and know its not well researched how it affects transwomen. Would it be worth getting tested for genetic mutations? Is just knowing I might be high risk enough? What would my options be if I did have a genetic mutation? Does anyone else have any experience with something like this that can give me any insight?
