Rising Anti-Americanism in Europe

I cannot speak for other regions, but if you are an American living in Europe, get ready for a rise in anti-Americanism.

We are just at the start of a disastrous and incredibly unpopular war. This war was started by Israel and the USA. It will play out over many months, likely years. It will totally restructure the Middle East in more profound ways than the two Gulf Wars. And its impact on Europe will be massive.

This will include a rise in refugees, already at the breaking point in some European countries. It will mean much higher food and gas prices, causing immense pain to normal Europeans, especially the poor. I have no doubt you will soon see massive demonstrations across all of Europe, demanding their governments stay out of this idiotic war.

Europeans will rightly blame America and Americans for all of this.

The USA is a democracy, after all. And Trump hasn't even tried to make a coherent case for the war. He's hated so much here it wouldn't matter, anyway. But there is zero effort.

Doesn't matter if you were personally against the war, or hate Trump, it's guilt by association. Trump is viewed as a total lunatic in Europe, a child rapist, and Europeans cannot understand how he can be elected by a sane country. So they naturally view the USA as insane.

I was in Europe for both Gulf Wars, I can already see this war is different. Yes, those were unpopular wars, too, but it was a discussion. You could argue the pro-war case and at least be thoughtfully heard. There were real concerns about Saddam's weapons programs, threats against his neighbors, etc. Of course these were mainly lies and propaganda, but at the time, it seemed plausible. No more. Nobody here is believing American lies any longer.

The attack on Iran by Israel and the USA is just state terrorism. There is zero support for it among normal Europeans. Israel now is moving troops into Lebanon and has told 500,000 Lebanese to leave their homes as they will be bombed. It's already a regional war... I would guess anti-war demonstrations in Europe will start soon, and you will see the hatred for the USA on full display.

Don't be fooled by some European government officials saying they are thinking of supporting the US, talking about how bad Iran is, etc.. They do not speak for the masses here. It's just standard Eurocrat speak. Normal Europeans are furious.

If you are American and live in Europe or hope to move to Europe, of course this will impact you. Even if laws and regulations restricting immigration from the USA do not change short term (e.g. more onerous Visa requirements), government bureaucrats will not be so attentive to your applications. Everyday people will not want you living in their buildings, around their children. I would expect a rise in threats and violence against Americans, as well.

We are at the start of something that will significantly impact Europe, and the USA will be (rightly) blamed. This will not be a short, limited war, this will be long and costly, with untold suffering greatly impacting all of Europe.

Get ready for severe backlash.
