1980's Carrier Unit - Advice on repair/replacement
I lease a small office suite which has these Carrier air conditioning units in each room. They are built into the wall, the rest of the unit is visible on the exterior walls. The rest work pretty well, but one unit just stopped cooling about 6 months ago, it rattled for a while and then just stopped pushing air into the room. It turns on but no air comes out, cold or hot.
The landlord had somebody come out and give an estimate for repair. The tech said they could not fix it and tried to sell the landlord on a $12k split unit, which the landlord is unwilling to pay for. Since it's a commercial lease, it's not required that the landlord pay for anything, but they have indicated some willingness to cover a smaller cost.
Is this unit able to be repaired, or replaced with a similar unit (not a new installation of a split unit). What might be a ballpark estimate of cost? If so, what kind of tech should I focus on finding, as it seems some of the bigger chains won't work on it?
Thank you in advance!
