Light Novels
It is not important whether a light novel is "good" or "bad." My impression is that Chinese novels, in particular, are the most entertaining. They aren't always the most beautiful, often the worst, I must say but they have a "click" once you start reading. It is also the "longest treachery" I have ever read, yet surprisingly, it never loses my interest. What is it about these clichés that is so special?
My "For You" page must really know me. I don’t enjoy going out; I like being alone and never find silence boring. Nothing is boring if you have yourself and a phone. While forming connections with others isn't inherently bad, it is exhausting. Being human, and perhaps a bit lazy, I crave dopamine and exhilaration. As a child, reading gave me those emotions. I don’t need to shed my outer layers; I just need to step into a different realm. Unlike the physical world where I am constrained by my form, reading allows me to float through different "wave colors." Others might find it a pity, but for me, it is comfort.
Reading Chinese novels is where I feel most at ease. I am presented with crazy plots where the sheer absurdity magnifies my interest. However, I dislike it when melancholic themes are riddled with illogical personalities. Even if my mind is "rustic," I still value logic. If a story establishes itself as illogical from the start, that is acceptable but authors must stay in their lane. Jumbling these elements makes the story a "bad pie."
Transmigration plots are the most interesting to me. They feed my delusions, allowing me to imagine the possibility of a dream. Logically, I know it won't happen, but the idea even a speck of it being true, is a lovely thought. I can’t count how many I’ve read or even remember the names of the characters I’ve followed. But I always remember the feeling of rooting for someone, being angry on their behalf, and falling in love with a person. It is laughably artificial, yet completely addicting.
!Honestly, reality is scary. There is no fallback, only dead ends. People make it sound like challenges are brief and success is guaranteed, but that is a far cry from the world of transmigration. Reality is always uncertain. Even hard work doesn’t guarantee success; it is often luck that drives the hardworking, the lazy, the mediocre, or the genius.!<
Chinese novels are just one of the many mediums I use to escape. For now, I’m content staying right where I am.
