Ontario high school – can I get special accommodations for pregnancy?
I’m a high school student in Ontario and I’m pregnant. I’m wondering about my rights when it comes to special accommodations, especially for things like needing more frequent bathroom breaks.
I told my first-period teacher about my pregnancy and my situation, hoping for understanding, but ever since then, he’s been singling me out and being very strict with me. Whenever I ask to go to the bathroom, he says no—even when it’s urgent—but I’ve noticed that other students are allowed to go, sometimes multiple people at once. I don’t understand why I’m being treated differently.
On the first day I told him, I actually threw up in class. I explained that I can’t always wait until the next period because of my pregnancy, but it doesn’t seem like he takes it seriously.
I just want to know if there are official accommodations I’m entitled to in Ontario high schools for pregnancy, and how I can handle this situation without it turning into more trouble for me.
Any advice or guidance would be really appreciated.
