Order ahead drinks

So I order ahead a good bit at Starbucks & never seen this so now I’m curious…

I walked in & on the counter was a drink that had the customers name crossed out & under it said “FREE” does that mean anyone can grab that drink!? At first I thought oh okay maybe they messed up on that persons order so they are giving them 2 drinks for free. But now that I am home && thinking about it more I believe maybe anyone could get that drink for free since the customers name was crossed out…!?!
