Question about Primary

Hello!

So I've been in a polycule for several months now, and it had been going great. About a month ago, my boyfriend said that he was going to make his girlfriend his primary while she dealt with marriage stuff, and I was okay with it. I thought it meant he'd spend more time with her than usual, but that we'd still be sexual and together like normal. Sex decreased, but we're in our thirties, so I thought it was normal adult stuff. But recently, he sat me down and said he liked our dynamic the way it currently is, with no sex. He liked going on dates with me and cuddling, but he's going to be focusing his sexual attention on his primary. The girlfriend is also new to poly, and her marriage is on the rocks. She has said that her brain thinks that Boyfriend is cheating whenever his sexual/relationship past is brought up.

So I'm asking is this normal and okay? He says he loves us both, but that it's different.
