The achievement system ruins the game to me.
I promised myself: no tryharding this time. I'll play as I want, no broken strategy. I'll have a good gameplay enjoying the vibe. And what? I still caught myself on tryharding, in hope to achieve S in some missions, to get a stupid reward. Yesterday, I raged at one of the best missions, Lighthouse, in attempt to get S. I cleaned the entire map, destroyed the Arsenal Bird as fast as possible, but still got A. Then I lost two times, and my last attempt was hopeless. It pissed me off so much that I shut the game, downloaded playable Gleipnir mod alongside all the required mods, started the mission again and devastated everything in sight with weapons of mass destruction. This is how I finally got S. (Highly recommended mod, BTW! Very satisfying one.)
I swear, this all "short time + many points" award system is lazy and stupid. Instead of training skills and forcing to invent your strategy, it leads to using one, certain strategy by every player. (Faceless Soldier, I'm looking at you.) It should depend from jet, special weapon or used parts, instead. The game should reward the player for actual skills or style, not rushing. You play some low-tier trash fighter because you like it? S is easier to you. You beat enemy ace by spamming QAAM? Getting S is harder. You defeat the boss with A-10? You get S just for succeeding without using checkpoints, the time doesn't matter.
