Is Qatar a good place to practice medicine?
I know this might not be a good moment to ask this question, especially given the rising tensions in the Middle East, but I've always wanted to practice medicine in Qatar. I have been there twice. My relatives live there as well and in general, I love how peaceful and safe it is for everyone. It also provides a nice Islamic environment if you want to raise your children there, which is why i dont like Dubai so much.
I did some research of my own and found out that Qatar does not require any licensing exams and it only requires prior experience(correct me if I'm wrong).
Now I was talking to my chachu the other day about wanting to do an internship/fellowship for a month in a Qatari hospital to strengthen my CV because I’ll have time during my holidays. He said that it would be really foolish to start with Qatar because as a young doctor, I might not be able to learn more and work with new technology. He said that Qatar should be my retirement plan.
Now here is what I want your guys’s opinion on:
Given that situation gets better in the middle east, should I aim for Qatar?
Is my chachu’s concern valid?
Should I opt for an internship this year? (I'm in my 3rd year btw)
I would really appreciate any and every help that I can get. Thank you in advance.
