Is there a way to track a particular pokemon?

I swear that when you get to a point where you have lots of pokemon in an area, some of them just...disappear. I've been looking for kircjetot to up his comfort level and I genuinely cannot find him anywhere. I've had this issue with Slowpoke, amongst others as well.
