Recovery questions for those who had robotic surgery
Scheduled for a date with the robot in a couple of weeks and I've been reading everyone's helpful surgery stories on here. But I have a few questions I haven't seen addressed. If it helps, I'm 56, in decent (but not great) shape for my age.
- Coming home, will stairs be an issue? Lots of stairs in my house, and I've seen some people say they slept on the couch, but I didn't know if that was because stairs are painful due to abdominal muscles, or is that for other reasons?
- Trying to plan when I can start working again, both from home and in the office. I have a desk job, so can I assume I will be about to put in most of a full day at home after two weeks, or is sitting that long still problematic? How about going back to the office - which for me would include a train ride and a decent walk to the office from there? Also wondering how I will get my laptop back and forth since the laptop, plus bag, umbrella, etc might be over 10 lbs
- I've seen people mention compression belts help. Does the hospital give you that or should I order it in advance and bring it with me?
Starting to get nervous for the surgery (never had surgery before and was only in the hospital once for a complex flair) but planning helps me cope as I count down the days.
