Is seramis less time consuming than semi hydroponic? Do you need to measure pH and ec?

Hi! I was reading about seramis lately, but I can't find this information - is using seramis for your plants less time consuming than semihydroponic? Do I need to also check pH and ec of water? I am trying to find some alternative to normal soil and za seramis sounds really good, but I see mixed info and I'm not sure how should I use it.
