Delivery scam??
I’m so confused. Yesterday a woman comes in complaining about her drink she ordered through delivery, and tells me that she called and someone said she could get a refund. I told her that if there is issues with a delivery order she needs to go to the delivery provider because she paid through a third party vendor. She keeps telling me that what I’m saying doesn’t make sense since we messed it up. I was on my lunch and not in the mood to argue, so I told her I’d honor it this time (it was an eight dollar drink) but that’s not our standard.
I texted my shift group chat after I verified that was the correct way to handle an incorrect order. One of the other SSVs tells me he talked to her earlier in the day and said the same thing three times to her.
Another woman comes in a few hours later and is wanting a remake on her delivery drink that she had ordered to the college nearby. I gave her the same speech and told she would need to reach out to the delivery company, have them refund her, and then she’d need to place a new order. I’ve never had this happen ever in my time with Starbucks.
Is this some new scam people are doing?? Complaining about some delivery issue and then wanting us to refund them or make them a new drink when they don’t even have a receipt??
