Does this make any sense?

Reading an article about the Nuggets. Its about all the things going wrong since Jokic came back. And starts a paragraph like this:

" There is one stat hiding in all this morass that should draw a sigh of relief from Nuggets fans, though: Opponents are shooting 71.1 percent at the rim when Jokic is on the court. This number is god awful."

He says that he is going to say something that will give relief through all the bad then proceeds to name something even worse. Im guessing its a joke just to pile on more shit on the fans. I feel like its bad writing. Not really sure. I dont write for a living.
