Wait until you're old!

I hate when people say this to me. I am in my mid thirties and I have had health issues my entire life. I cannot talk about them with anyone I work with (I live in a retirement town) because every single time I do someone gets a stupid look on their face and says wait until you're my age! And yes, I do understand that aging people face things that generally younger people do not. I really do. But there are plenty of people like me who have chronic issues and yes, are suffering! Maybe my back pain from "the worst herniated disc [he] had ever seen" (quote from my surgeon) is worse than yours, Sharon! Ever think of that????
