Any tips for a complete Trails noob?

I'm still in the Prologue of the game but I'm already feeling a bit overwhelmed with all the different mechanics that are being thrown at me. I'm not sure how I should be building Estelle and Joshua and the hybrid combat system is kinda confusing as well. The way I understand it you're supposed to use real time combat to stun enemies and then switch to turn based? Idk, any help would be appreciated lol
