You're tired. I can only imagine. There's only so much you can do to conceal those dark rings you carry under your eyes. The way that broad back of yours locks up as you bend over yet again to pick up another strewn toy. I hear it in your breath, the way you try and hide the mental exhaustion beneath that overly positive tone and the patience of a monk. You paint over it with caffeine and spackle over the cracks in your own health and wellness with whatever sustenance that can be forced down during nap time.

You give yourself to your kids, your family, your life, everything, as if you don't matter anymore.

Well, I'm tired of it as well.

I'm tired of seeing the way that neglected bulge of yours swells against those grey sweats as if it were an afterthought. Do you think you can go around showing off the arch of your shoulder caps and definition in your forearms when you're playfully tossing your boys in the air without consequence? Do you know what you do to me every time you take your daughter's hand in your thick, callused mits? The places my body throbs to feel yours against me?

I'm tired of waiting another day of seeing you deny yourself the pleasure, attention, and devotion that you have deprived yourself when you became the father you are today. I need you to understand what you do to me when I see you nurturing, coddling, protecting, cherishing the ones in your life that count of you for everything. Even if only for a few hours. Because you have a life and responsibilities to get back to.

But not until I've reminded you of why you're the best Daddy there is.
