How do I tell if I need to up my dosage
I’ve been on the same dose of 125mg of Wellbutrin XR for somewhere in the ballpark of 2 years I think. I was on Prozac before that and changed the dosage like 4 times because it kept plateauing, and Wellbutrin has been WAY better but now I’m worried it’s starting to plateau too.
My wellbutrin prescription is primarily for depression, a little for anxiety, and off-label for some undiagnosed adhd symptoms. The first year or so, it worked really well for all of those. The first one to stop working as well was the help w adhd symptoms but that wasn’t a huge deal I can manage that and everything else was pretty stable. Recently though I’ve been noticing a lot of mood swings, especially around my period but not always. The mood swings leave me feeling hopeless and anxious, sometimes even working up into panic attacks which I otherwise hadn’t had since starting the meds. I have a pretty stressful job that I’m not very happy with, which I know is going to make me feel worse to begin with, but I can’t tell how much of the mood swings is just from that, vs from the meds. Did anyone else start have mood swings after a few years ion Wellbutrin? What did you end up doing about it?
I do plan to talk to my doctor about it but I am trying to change pcps right now, and I can’t see the new one until May. I am just not sure if it’s worth it to wait or to go to my current pcp who I can see sooner, or if this will just pass an is not indicative of the meds effect lessening. Super frustrating to feel like this again after two years of not at all. Hoping that this is a passing effect of the meds, but I realize that it might be time to change the dosage again. Any advice (or even just commiseration) is appreciated!
