Ocean Plastic Surgery Los Alamitos Ca. My experience with Ocean Plastic Surgery (Los Alamitos) – breast surgery, anesthesia price change, insurance issues, and Botox result

I wanted to share my experience in case it helps someone else make a more informed decision.

My breast surgery was done in August 2025 after I went in for significant pain in my right breast that was making it difficult to sleep. During my consultation, the situation was described as potentially urgent (possible rupture, infection, or another complication). Because of that, I was encouraged to schedule surgery quickly and was told the doctor had cleared his schedule for the following week to fit me in.

Because the situation was explained as potentially serious, I felt that waiting might not be safe.

At the time, my family had just moved and we were honestly not financially prepared to take on surgery. Looking back, I wish I had taken more time to get multiple consultations and estimates before moving forward.

Another issue happened on the day of surgery. The anesthesia price changed shortly before the procedure while I was already prepared for surgery. This created unexpected financial stress for my family at a time when it was difficult to step back from the situation.

Since the procedure, I have been trying to gather the documentation needed to submit everything to my insurance company. I requested copies of my medical records, chart updates, my superbill, and the anesthesiology billing documentation.

As of now, I still have not received the updated chart that was promised or a copy of the final anesthesia bill, despite multiple requests over several weeks. Clear documentation is really important when trying to submit something to insurance, and these delays have made that process much harder.

Before surgery I had also documented my symptoms and concerns and sent that information to the doctor, so there was a written record of what I was experiencing.

Another thing that surprised me later was seeing advertisements from the practice saying some procedures may be covered by insurance. When I had spoken with the staff member responsible for procedure estimates, I was told that working with insurance had been very difficult for the practice and that they likely would not be offering insurance-related cases going forward. So seeing those advertisements later was confusing.

Separate from the surgery, I also had Botox injections at the practice, and afterward I ended up with hooded eyelids, which was not something I had experienced with Botox before.

I’m not posting this to attack anyone. I’m sharing my experience because I wish I had slowed down and gathered more information before making decisions.

If you’re considering cosmetic or reconstructive procedures anywhere, my biggest advice would be:

•	Get multiple consultations

•	Ask detailed questions about anesthesia billing

•	Ask how medical records and documentation will be provided afterward

•	Understand all costs ahead of time

•	If you’re planning to submit to insurance, ask exactly what documentation you’ll receive

Right now I’m still organizing my records and documenting the timeline while I work through the insurance submission process.
