Started 3 weeks ago, not sure what constitutes as normal adjustment...

Beginning Effexor

Hi all,

So I started Venzip XL (prolonged-release) 3 weeks ago because my anxiety got too much to manage (I lost my job over a year ago and finding work has been a nightmare, it's created financial stress that me and my partner are struggling with, I'm also autistic with adhd) and it's not been too hard of a time? (I think).

Physical side effects: jaw tension, slight headache when I sleep too much, I feel really tired, I'm not overly hungry, I get the shakes sometimes (I suspect because I'm not eating enough as it settles down once I eat something more than a breakfast bar). For the first couple of weeks I kept waking up at 4am and then falling back to sleep about 20 mins later.

Mental side effects: I've had increased anxiety and insecurity, my partner and I have been going through a rough time and I'm convinced he's going to call it quits so much that I've been googling the hell out of my options if that happens even though he's expressed that he's not giving up on us and he is a man of his word.

Aside from that I've also been feeling a complete lack of motivation in anything (even things I want to do/enjoy) and I don't have any desires, not even concerning my own future. I'm not sure if this is the depression side presenting itself differently because of the meds. I'm in charge of cooking in our household and usually its not much bother, sometimes I struggle figuring out what to cook but since these meds I just have no motivation, and when I do cook I zone out whilst I do it.

It's weird.

I do have to book an appointment next week with my doctor for a review but I'm just trying to figure out what's normal and what's not. She said that the first couple of weeks can be absolutely horrible but it takes about 6 months to settle in the system. But I just wanted to know if people have had experiences like mine and things have been okay

Thanks :)
