Help
Hello!! I’m in my final semester of college for my Associates in Applied Science for Massage Therapy and Associates in General Studies. I’m struggling so badly trying to find a job in the tristate area… the lack of businesses or anything is unreal. I sort of have a job with a fast food place, they are under construction, and they have had a delay in operations pushing back their opening date… financially I don’t think my household can survive, I have waited far too long as it is already. I need any advice yall have to find a temporary job for 4-6 months because once I have all of my requirements to be a LMT; I have no idea where I should go with it. I have been leaning on the idea of becoming an independent contractor and being licensed for Maryland, Pennsylvania, and West Virginia. The amount of training I have have should be enough accredited hours to work nationwide, but my soon to be husband is a stickler in his ways and does not want to leave this area.
The employer was very kind and provided me a hotel to stay in for one night for some training. I was thankfully given a clean uniform… aside from a finger print covered hat. When working they had some rules which made sense, what did not make sense is turning a horizontal sandwich to vertical because it’s “mikes way.” Especially while I’m working on it, I am not afraid to admit I’m very short and this silly job just made it harder for me to reach the end of completing my work task. There were some other things too that really overstimulated or irked me. I would have to say though the worst part was their food. I couldn’t even finish half a sandwich. Later on in the day an employee admitted to me that the meat they use is cheap, they slice it extra thin, and fluff it up so it appears you’re getting more. I’m telling you for a fact that you are paying more for less. Less quantity, less quality, and for a higher price than what you would pay at subway.
It was probably one of the most cult-like jobs I have ever been to. I literally hated my first and probably only day of training there and this is saying a lot because I’ve put up with some crap at previous jobs. Even working at Subway was far better than this.
Any kind human beings with advice would be greatly appreciated.
