Paid ₹55k advance to manpower agency, maid ran away in 2 days – agency refusing refund. What legal action can I take?

Hi everyone, I need some legal advice regarding a manpower agency that I believe has cheated us.

We hired a house help through a manpower consultant based in Jasola area, Delhi. As per their requirement, we paid ₹55,000 as two months advance for the maid they provided.

However, the maid worked only for 2–3 days and then ran away. Since then, the agency has stopped responding to calls and messages and is refusing to refund the money or provide a replacement.

This feels like a clear scam because:

•	They took advance payment

•	The worker disappeared almost immediately

•	The agency is now avoiding communication

If anyone has dealt with a similar situation or has legal experience, your advice would be really helpful.
