As approving drivers for races is a hot topic, I looked into the FIA superlicense system. Using that as a framework, I made this sheet detailing how NASCAR could standardize its approval process for drivers based on starts and championship finishes. Drivers may count starts (with above 50% of laps finished) and championship finishes for the three years prior to applying for a series license. For international and open wheel series with fewer races, starts can go back 5 years. Road courses and short tracks have lower thresholds in each series, and a road track or short tracks start in a series is worth 4 points toward a full license provided 50% of laps are completed. Once you reach a level and get a license, that license is good for 3 years as long as you make 3 starts and run 50% of the laps in each.

Cup all - 40 pts

Cup rc/st - 30 pts

OAPS all - 30 pts

OAPS rc/st - 20 pts

Truck all - 20 pts

Truck rc/st -10 pts

ARCA all - 10 pts

ARCA RC/ST - 5 points

I am still toying with points value and rules, but I think this would help make the approval process much clearer and equitable to everyone involved, while making sure drivers are qualified. Tell me what you think, where I have screwed up and why, and any things you would change!

Link to sheet in comments. I have fixed this problem for you Freddie Kraft lol.
