Kingfisher-isms

I was listening to Kingfisher’s interview and as a writer I was struck by the sentiment she had that she had to come to peace with the fact that not all of her characters knew the names of the trees.

Cut to me listening to Snake-eater and dying of laughter at a line from the first chapter:

“And plants that she didn’t know the names of.”

😂 she couldn’t help herself. She had to explicitly mention that Selena did not know the plant names.

I love that she just can’t help herself. And that’s part of why I love reading about her worlds. There’s always some neat piece of small world building that she put effort into.

Have you guys noticed any other themes that keep popping up in her works?
