the reason my bf broke up with me makes me feel the worst ever

me and my ex bf met in an incredibly magic way, we fit into the invisible string theory (like many many connection and it was like we were destined to meet). he was my first date ever, first man who ever gave me attention, my first romantic experience. before him i haven't even been on a date, searuched for years for literally anyone and was willing to accept whatever comes. i met him totally unexpectedly and at first was not that interested but found out he was everything i looked for.

he didn't love bomb me or anything. it was his first romantic experience too. actually the whole thing lacked flirting, physical contact, confidence. but i really saw him as the best thing ever even though he never did anything special to me. no flowers, no "real" dates, no paying for stuff. but his personality, kindness, mutual interests and goals was something i valued. i told him many times how grateful i was, how i appreciate everything he does.

at the same time i felt worse than him. he is very intelligent, with many friends, hobbies, abilities. and i'm the opposite tbh. his presence gave me more than him as a person - i finally had more people around, could learn, motivate myself to grow, try new things. i felt so bad that i'm nothing special, that i'm not good at anything, can't give him the same as he gave to me.

i never said it directly but it was the reason he suddenly broke up with me. it was his spontaneous decision, like we met like always and just during a more serious conversation he decided to leave. we never argued, never had problems etc. but there was no communication, probably due to our lack of experience and fear. during the break up he didn't tell me the reason except "that's not it" but after a few days he texted:

"I had the impression that you were constantly undermining your own value, abilities, and potential, and I felt that you were somehow placing yourself in a "lower" position in this relationship. It was difficult for me to live with this feeling (I don't know how accurate it was) that you treat the little things I do for you as something unnatural that you somehow don't deserve(?) and that in our relationship it's as if “you were lucky to have me” and not that we both found someone great. I don't know if what I've written makes any sense, it's difficult to describe such things, especially when I don't have any hard feelings or negative emotions."

i'm shattered because he never mentioned that. actually he rarely complimented me and made me feel valued so i felt he thinks the same as i do. and now? i ruined everything. how can i think good of myself if another person left me?

(sorry, english is not my first language so i had to translate the message, i know it sounds kinda weird but i couldn't find literally the same words)
