Utility of diagnosis
Hi! I’m well into my 40s. Always borderline on screenings. A formal diagnosis feels like it has little utility in life but I just had drama bubble up at work AGAIN.
I am very good at my job until there’s chaos or people don’t do things according to policy and procedure. My boss is nice but bad with paperwork/procedure or having a robust understanding of issues and is also an extremely indirect communicator. I got angry at her after an issue came up and I’m headed for another PMP. My colleagues stopped being friendly to me after my outburst. I don’t know how to control this. My outburst was totally focused on the missing documentation that was stressing me out but it doesn’t matter.
Does a formal diagnosis help me learn to deal with things like this? I think I’m finally getting on meds for mood but I don’t know if they will make me less tightly wound about rules and procedure, and able to communicate more nicely. I don’t even want to communicate more nicely but I want to be able to keep my job. Thank you!
