Is it possible to meet community without social media?

Elder millennial, late bloomer here. I live rurally but near a queer-friendly city.

I’m not really focused on dating right now BUT I’d love to build more gay/queer friendships and community. The problem is I’ve never used social media or and dating apps be dating apps.

Is it actually possible to meet gay friends without them these days? Or do I need to finally break down and make an account?

Curious how other people are building community in real life.

Even the hiking club I’ve heard about announces their meetups thru IG & I'm not much of a bar gal.
