Months into meal prepping for fat loss and the boredom is threatening to undo all the progress I've made
Sunday prep has genuinely been the backbone of staying consistent on a 500-calorie deficit. Cooking five days of lunches and dinners in one session means I never reach for junk after long nursing shifts. The problem is the rotation has gotten so predictable that I actually dread opening the fridge now. Grilled chicken breast, brown rice, steamed broccoli, two different sauces. Each container lands around 430 calories and the protein is solid.
But the sameness is eroding my motivation faster than hunger ever did. I’ve tried swapping seasonings and it helps for about a week before feeling mechanical again. My real constraints are that meals need to reheat without getting mushy, stay under 500 calories, and not demand more than 90 minutes of active prep on Sunday. Turkey meatballs and different grain bases keep coming up in conversations. What actually works for people who are in it for the long haul, not just a two-week experiment?
