I Built a Reddit comment bot with Rust

🛠️ project

It uses thirtyfour + ollama-rs to browse Reddit, generate comments with a local LLM, and post them with fake human behavior via random typing delays, scrolling, user-agent rotation, and the works. I don't know how effective that is, though I've noticed that if you tweak the configs a little, the bots can survive for up to weeks.

It also isn't really a serious project, but it turned into a decent excuse to mess around with async Rust and WebDriver automation. I personally really like Rust's current ecosystem when it comes to scraping and automation possibilities, on par with even Python's, imo.

It does support headless mode, though that does trigger Reddit's detection somehow. It also has configurable subreddits/sort modes, custom prompts via TOML files, and a dumb-mode where it just picks randomly from a predefined reactions list instead of hitting ollama.

Obviously, it violates Reddit's TOS. The README is very upfront about this: it can be used for astroturfing, spam, and assorted, though it has very limited capabilities and it's more of a fun side-project.
