Naltrexone and Buproprion

Hi, I'm not sure if this is the right group for me since naltrexone has multiple uses. I wanted to try naltrexone for my plateaued weight loss to mimic Contrave which is Naltrexone and Buproprion. Since I already take Buproprion for BPD, my Dr said I could add naltrexone.

He gave me 50mg. From what I read, Contrave is dosed as a taper where the naltrexone part starts at 8mg. Dr says my insurance doesn't cover the 8mg and the lowest they cover is 50mg and I could split them. So I split them into 4 pieces, about 12mg.

I took it with a Buproprion with food. I got severe nausea around dinner time the next night and didn't take it and couldn't eat dinner. I just had oatmeal. The next night after dinner I had severe abdominal cramps and nausea and more of the same this morning.

I already have digestive issues, IBS and Diverticulitis that cause abdominal cramps and have medications for that and nausea, but this feels different. I really wanted to take this for help moving my weight loss along and also for fibromyalgia and brain fog. I've read that it can take a week or so to adjust and at two to three days in I'm wondering if I should keep going.

The posts I've read here talk about much lower doses. Dr said 50mg would be okay but split if I want to do the taper, so I'm confused 😕. Has anyone else a similar thing to me? Any thoughts or advice and is this the right group for me? Thanks!
