Upgrading from a C300 Coupe AMG line— 2021 C43 (V6) or 2023 C43 (new gen)? Torn between engine vs “new car” feel
I’ve had a 2019 C300 4MATIC Coupe (AMG Line) for about 4 years now and I’m coming up on 100k miles, so I’m looking to upgrade.
Right now I’m stuck between two options:
• 2021 C43 AMG (W205)
• 2023 C43 AMG (W206)
The dilemma is kind of weird.
The 2021 has the 3.0L twin-turbo V6, which I really like. It makes around 385 hp and 384 lb-ft and does ~0-60 in the mid-4 second range.
But the downside is… it’s basically the same exact interior and exterior as my current car. I feel like besides the performance bump, it might not really feel like a “new” car.
The 2023, on the other hand, is the new generation with the updated interior, big screen, and new styling, which I actually like a lot. But it switched to the 4-cylinder hybrid setup instead of the V6, and that’s the part that’s holding me back.
So I’m stuck between:
• 2021: better engine (V6), but feels like the same car I already have
• 2023: feels like a real upgrade visually/tech-wise, but no V6
Price difference between the two is basically negligible in my case, which makes it even harder.
For those who’ve driven or owned either:
• Does the W205 → W206 jump actually feel like a big upgrade?
• Would the V6 alone be enough reason to choose the 2021 although same exact body type as vehicle?
• Or would you go 2023 just to get the new generation?
Curious what you guys would do in this situation.
