Useful tool or just a specific niche solution?
Hey guys,
Quick backstory: my grandpa is a general contractor with decades of experience. The one thing he complains about more than anything else is the sheer headache of coordinating blueprints/documents with his subs.
He tried a bunch of existing apps but never stuck with them. So, as a final coding project for my CS degree, I built him a custom tool that solves his specific problems. He’s been using it for a few weeks now and says it saves him hours. He has also shared it with two of his friends who now also use it.
I’m not sure if it just happens to solve their specific problems, since they do similar work, or if this is actually a useful tool for others, too.
The tool just sends a link via SMS. The sub clicks the text message and the blueprints/docs open instantly in the browser. It even caches them so they work offline on the job site. It requires no login, no app download, no password.
I plan to keep it free as a side project. I’d love to keep working on it as a hobby and if any of you find it useful and have feedback or features that would make your life easier, let me know. I'd love to add them in.
