Who is this obscure figure mentioned in Euripides’ Helen who “blazed / the false flares”?

Antistrophe A

And there were many Achaeans who by the spear

and by the stone’s smash have died

and are given grimly to Hades.

For these, unhappy wives have cut their long hair.

The chambers of their love are left forsaken.

Many others besides were drowned

by an Achaean, that man of the single oar,

off water swept Euboea

when he lit his wreck fires, blazed

the false flares, and crashed them to death on Aegean rocks at Capherus

Lines 1122-1130

Richmond Lattimore‘s translation, published by The University of Chicago Press in Euripides IV. Pages 68-69

So someone lit false signal flames and caused a shipwreck at Caphaeus? Can anyone tell me about this story? search engines aren’t helping.
