Is this what low sleep needs looks like at 5.5 months?

4 - 6 months

We've been working on trying to get our 5.5 month old's schedule right as he was waking up many, many times in the motn, with many failed crib transfers (even after feeds),and only sleeping if held, despite putting himself to sleep for all naps and night time.

As suggested, we eliminated rocking before bedtime and made sure to finish his feed at least 30 mins before bedtime, really tightening up what our pre-bedtime routine looks. We've had 6 nights of this so far and have seen some marginal improvements.

I'm wondering though if despite the average recommended sleep amount for his age being 14.5 hrs, maybe he is low sleep needs? He had his best night - literally since birth - this past weds night when he slept from 7:30-5:40 AM, putting himself back to sleep for any wake ups and oddly enough did a full 180 while he whale tailed in his crib through the night.

Bedtime is 7:30 PM +/- 15 mins, and we wake him up at 6:30am +/- 15 mins. Following a 2.5/2.5/2.5/3.

Since Saturday naps and nights have looked like this:
Sat - Naps: 2 hrs 49 mins, first wake 11:45 PM
Sun - Naps: 2 hrs 49 mins, first wake 9:05 PM
Mon - Naps: 2 hrs 32 mins, first wake 11:45 PM
*Tues - Naps: 2 hrs 44 mins, first wake at 3:15 am*
*Weds - Naps: 2 hrs 12 mins, STTN, woke at 5:40 AM*
Thurs - Naps: 3 hrs 1 min, first wake at 11:55 pm

We hired a sleep consultant and will be starting with her soon, however if he is a low sleep needs baby, is it unfair to sleep train for middle of the night wakes? Or is the above just a coincidence?

If you read this far, thanks!
