Does it make you sad that Marathon won't be as popular as it deserves?
Loving the game so far. I'm fully bought into the narrative, gameplay, and art direction. All beautifully realized and artfully contrived. Dare I say masterful in a lot of ways.
So, the reaction to this game being so mixed makes me sad.
A game doesn't have to be popular to be good, obviously. However, as someone who appreciates art/media and what it can do for community and culture, I find myself frustrated that this game isn't going to get the flowers it deserves.
Less popular means less fan art, a smaller community, and lower lifespan, at least for a AAA title like this.
Normally I wouldn't grovel for any corpo studio dropping a dud, but good art is good art, and this flopping does not bode well for gaming culture's collective palette, you know what I mean?
I'm happy to shift my mindset and embrace this as a "hidden" gem, same as I might with most of my favorite indie titles. However, I was excited for this to sit in the zeitgeist, gestate for awhile, and get to be a pillar of gaming culture. Guess I just miss Halo 3 LOL.
Do y'all feel similarly, am I making any sense at all here?
