Network speed in 2a

I'm honestly getting really frustrated with the hotspot on my Nothing Phone 2a. Whenever I connect my laptop to it, the internet becomes painfully slow for normal things like browsing or opening websites, and everything takes ages to load. But the weird part is that the moment I start downloading something, the speed suddenly becomes normal and downloads work perfectly fine. So basically browsing is terrible but downloads are fast, which makes absolutely no sense. I've already tried restarting the phone, turning the hotspot off and on, and reconnecting the laptop but nothing fixes it. For a phone that's supposed to be decent, this hotspot behavior is honestly annoying. Is anyone else facing this issue with the Nothing Phone 2a or is my phone just acting stupid?
