Is this a Scorpio test or trap?
Looking for opinions on reconnecting with a 26 year old Scorpio male or not. I'm a Taurus female, currently 26 years old too. Saga is below, but summary is that we liked each other at different times, Scorpio guy stung me, now he is trying to get back into my life 4 yrs later but I'm confused if it's a test or a trap.
My first interaction with this Scorpio was in my third year of college. We had mutual friends and I always found him physically attractive. I got excited when a friend told me he also had a crush on me. I told my friend to give him my number and he asked me out on a first date... in a dining hall. It was a little awkward because he had a hard time making direct eye contact with me and he came off really standoffish. It was hard to connect over conversation and I just thought we didn't have sparks. What's peculiar is he didn't ask me on another date but he kept hanging around close to me with our mutual friends in the library and other places on campus. He was showing up everywhere around me but was not making a move on me. I low-key felt like I was being stalked. I confided in a mutual friend that I was really turned off by his strange behavior, and I want a guy to directly pursue me not tiptoe around me. It was a mistake to confide in her, though, because she blabbed to the Scorpio guy and this apparently sent him tail-spinning to "hate" me because I called him weird. He gave me the cold-shoulder for a couple of months, but honestly I had moved on and started going on dates with another guy for a few weeks. I invited this new guy to a spring formal event and I posted photos of my date with this guy on social media. Doing that apparently put the nail in the coffin for any remaining feelings Scorpio guy had left for me. After the spring formal I break things off with the new guy and I'm single again.
Fast forward to senior year of college, Scorpio guy is finally acting normal around me and we actually become friends. Our conversations become effortless, we hang out with each other more, and I start catching real feelings for him. Three months before graduation, we got drunk at a club and got super handsy. He asked me to come back his place and we ended up hooking up. I must say the chemistry was off the charts and it caught me off guard. Although we both sobered up, I was really swept up in the moment and blurted that I really liked him and wanted to explore a relationship with him. This is when the Scorpio "stung" me. He told me he was still very hurt that I called him weird (mind you, I had called him weird more than a year ago). He also pressed me to explain my relationship about the guy I took to spring formal. I was flabbergasted that he was still hung up on these things that had happened more than a year ago. I said the past guy was just a fling and didn't mean much as we just went out for a few weeks. Scorpio guy still simmered in anger and told me he used to like me a lot but not anymore and he doesn't want to be with me. It felt like he was personally attacking my character and was using that reason for not wanting to be with me. It really felt like he was punishing me. I left bawling my eyes out and feeling humiliated that I put myself in this situation. He then called me the next day and apologized on the phone about how the hookup went down, but he said he hadn't changed his mind about me. I took the high road and didn't argue with him because I saw no point. I told him I sincerely apologize for everything that happened in the past and I want to move on as friends after graduation, which he agreed to.
After graduation we moved to different cities, he never reached out to me, and we lost touch with each other. I moved on with my life and dated other people and had a serious relationship. Now FOUR years later, I'm hearing from one of college mutual friends that Scorpio guy has been thinking about me a lot, about our hookup, and about our chemistry. This mutual friend is telling me that he's contemplating moving to my city for a new job opportunity, although he hasn't committed to any decision yet. My initial reaction is to run to the hills based on how hurt I was after he stung me at the end of college. But part of me is wondering... is this a test fabricated by him? Is he fishing to see if I tell our mutual friend that I still like him and he has a chance with me if he moves to my city? Or is this trap to hurt me again? I still have lingering feelings for him, but I want him to make the first move and reach out to me directly. I don't like playing games of talking through mutual friends. I also don't think it's my place to reach out to him first, as he is the one who rejected and hurt me last. What do you guys think - is he trying to test if I still like him? Or is this a trap??
