I think the Kyleena IUD has taken a serious toll on my mental health. Anyone else experience this?

Contraception

So, I’ve had the Kyleena for over a year now. At first, other than some cramping and bleeding for the first few weeks, I didn’t notice any major changes and thought that the IUD was great. That is until maybe a couple of months in I began to experience a deep sadness, increased anxiety, irritability, anger spirals, and numbness that hasn’t gone away. I’ve always struggled with anxiety, and sometimes felt a little low in myself every now and then, but this is next level. I am constantly on the verge of tears, and just feel like my body is screaming from the inside. I feel a sense of impending doom and hopelessness, often having a fluttery or heavy feeling in my chest. I’m so disconnected from myself and everything I used to care about or enjoy. I just feel so off, like something is wrong. I’m not myself. Im not fully with it. I feel like I’m going crazy! I’m crashing out over the smallest things and picking fights then the guilt of being a bitch eats away at me. I feel so insecure about myself and my relationship, I’ve become such a whiney needy baby, all issues I never had prior to the IUD. Initially, I put these feelings of depression and anxiety down to moving to a new location abroad that I was unhappy with, loneliness there and struggling to find full time work / financial worries, but now that we’ve moved back home and I’m working full time again, how I’m feeling hasn’t changed at all. The timeline of these feelings and the common denominator seems to be the IUD.. I feel sorry for my boyfriend who has to witness every one of my daily sometimes hourly mood swings and I feel so guilty and worried that I am exhausting to be around because of what this IUD has made me become. I am going to make an appointment ASAP to get it removed and see if this makes a difference. Just wanted to post my experience to see if anyone else could relate? The more I read about it, the more I connect to other women’s stories about the iud and their mental health decline. I just hope my GP takes me seriously
